Spoiler alert

I remember the Works of the live action that was in the making. It was July 2019 and I was watching Stranger Things season three premiere. I received notifications that Halle Bailey was going to be playing Ariel. I was overjoyed that someone who looks like me who’s going to play the Little mermaid. Most people were ecstatic because she was a beautiful singer because it’s the personality of Ariel’s character. Also mainly me speaking, we have someone of color to represent little kids. Now they can see themselves in the film. Like most Black people didn’t have that growing up. It’s great for the new generations to experience this and to show that color does not matter. Unfortunately the news spread to hate groups. Those groups posted racist tweets , Facebook posts & groups and death threats to Halle herself. It was really disheartening to see and hear. I was so happy that it was all groups of people defending Haley and not just Black people. It seems like I saw more fan drawings and art than hate posts. Spreading more love than hate it’s always powerful. The hatred continues to this day unsurprisingly. But now is more of 😆 to the Premier’s and art pictures, which is a little bit more insulting. The best part is despite all that the movie happened in it now is the number one movie in the world. I just saw this past weekend and it was worth the wait.

I was counting down the days until the movie hit theaters. I went to see it this past weekend with my sister and my friends. I had a hold back singing the songs during the movie. They added more Content in this version. The differences between the old and new are about a few things. Ursula's song is shortened, Ariel joins Sebastian in the song under the sea. Scuttle is played by a woman,

Eric has his own song. This movie is more diverse and it is a mix race family on both sides. The best difference is that Ariel forgot to get her voice back from Ursula and she’s the one that killed her at the end, not Eric. It was also the best part of the movie that she far to get her place back and at the end her and Eric traveled the world together. This version is a better version of coming of age young girls. In the last movie they get married and in this version they are just experiencing things they couldn’t do before together. I think this is better for this generation of kids.

Compared to the old and new movies, I still think the original is just as good. I could watch it over and over to this day just like I did as a kid. There’s a new movie I can see over and over as well for different reasons. Their original Ursula song will never be replaced. It is still my favorite villain song. This new movie had more diversity in Ariel saving the day at the end. This new movie showed a similar struggle of family pride and pleasing the parents. Also generational fear of the unknown. This new version is a better company age for young girls today. However, the original animation it’s always gonna be timeless and priceless. Go see this movie. At the end you will pride and have motivation.
